Does the Slackware VPS use systemd?

No. Slackware keeps its traditional BSD-style rc init (/etc/rc.d). If you specifically want a systemd-free Linux server, this is it.

How do I manage packages?

Slackware uses tgz/txz packages with pkgtools (installpkg, removepkg, upgradepkg) and slackpkg for mirrors. Third-party build scripts are available via SlackBuilds.org.

Do the portal controls work on Slackware?
